Donald Trump turns 80 and is the oldest person in United States history to become president. Amidst all the speculation on both his mental and physical health, the world looks on, wondering if this is affecting his judgement and as a result what consequences there will be for the USA particularly, and the world at large generally.
Looking at his natal chart and applying a few methods, let’s see what these may reveal.
Basic strength of the body
We can turn first to the Moon in Sagittarius in the Fourth house. The first thing to note is that it is conjunct the South Node and as this is a Full Moon on the Nodal axis, we have a lunar eclipse. The eclipse belongs to the Saros series 2 Old North and Brady describes this eclipse family as:
“A difficult eclipse family, as its members bring unfortunate news concerning friendships and relationships….ideas of separation or the ending of a union…”[i]
An eclipsed Moon often signifies a lack of awareness of the body and its needs as well as the sources for emotional security. The Moon is also in contention[ii] as she is disposited by Jupiter, a diurnal planet who in turn is disposited by the nocturnal Venus. Lunar matters which include one’s physical and emotional appetites and their effect on the body are large and Jupiterian, often wanting and needing to devour both physically and emotionally, everything and everyone around it. The Moon is also out of sect as she is a nocturnal planet in a diurnal chart. Putting these together as well as the aspects she receives from an opposition to Uranus, a trine from Mars and a sextile from her dispositor Jupiter, suggests that the basic strength of the body is compromised by appetites, drives and desires.
The Moon’s rulership of the Cancer Twelfth house (in the Placidus chart Cancer is intercepted in the Eleventh) suggests that hidden fears, anxieties and secrets are inherent to the Moon’s expression. The fact that the Sagittarian Moon is ‘blind’[iii] to Cancer suggests that this lack of awareness of what one fears and of what is hidden or kept secret undermine the Moon’s capacity to function and provide nurturing, compassion and caring both for the physical and emotional body.
Overall, the general health and basic strength of the body on the surface seems to be strong and is experienced as Jupiterian however, the issues which underpin the Moon will contribute, over time to a wearing down as a consequence of excess, a lack of self-care and an intransigent dislike of having to stick to rules, regulations or restrictions.
Growth and development
The Leo Ascendant describes a life force which is fiery, ruled by the Sun in Gemini in the Eleventh house. The Sun is compromised by its conjunction to the North Node, opposition the Moon, and as mentioned earlier, signifies that this birth occurred at a lunar eclipse. The Sun also receives a trine from Jupiter magnifying the solar light but not necessarily in the most benefic manner. Although Jupiter is in sect by virtue of being a diurnal planet in a diurnal birth, it sits below the horizon, away from the Sun’s influence of light and warmth. Hence, Jupiter’s nature will be less munificent, less generous with a tendency to entitlement and selfishness.
The Leo Mars sits on the Ascendant, in trine to the Moon. Mars in this diurnal chart is the out of sect malefic [iv], making it a very traitorous planet – strong through angularity but unpredictable in expression. This is furthered emphasised by the fact that it is in contention and as such is often always on the defensive, suspicious of others’ motives and highly competitive. There is a level of self-centeredness and insecurity especially where questions of masculinity are concerned. An egotistical nature will often be at the centre of any conflict where motives are questioned or when they are overlooked or unacknowledged. The icing on the Martian cake is that it sits in its own terms. One can say that the growth and development is flavoured by Mars while its trine to the Moon suggests that the basic strength of the body as represented by the Moon is singularly affected by the aspect to the difficult Mars whose desire to compete, challenge and overcome obstacles and foes alike will run roughshod over the Moon.
What we have then is someone whose appetites and desires, whose drive for attention and prominence are intrinsically linked to, and affect his overall physical health.
What are the vulnerabilities
House rulership of planets placed in the First house gives us a look at the vulnerabilities which impinge on health generally. With the First house Mars ruling the Scorpio Fourth house, one could say that one of the vulnerabilities is family; something inherited from the Father or passed down the line of familial patterns. Mars is a potent force in its angularity and as it sits in a diurnal chart, it is the out-of-sect malefic and conjuncting the Ascendant it makes a powerful impression on the body, character and outer expression.
The Aries Ninth house signifies that the other underlying matters to this Mars are strong beliefs of dominance, physical assertion and action. In his personal life, Trump subscribes to the fringe and pseudoscientific view of battery theory, positing that a human is born with only a finite amount of energy, which is depleted by physical activity.[v] This can seem a contradiction but in effect what we have is a planet that demands action but not necessarily motivated to undertake it itself rather it looks to direct and stimulate the action externally often through the agency of others. This will be seen as bullying or threatening others to take the action they believe is necessary. What this does is define relationships with the outside world as transactional i.e. do as I say or else.
Mental resilience and attitude to life
Looking now to Mercury to determine mental resilience and attitude to life we see Mercury in Cancer in the Twelfth house in a tight square to Neptune. We can surmise that mental acuity and resilience may be clouded by either fantasy or idealism, rarely anchored to either reality or pragmatism. Mercury’s dispositor is the Moon who, as we have already discussed, is blind to Cancer hence has little effect in its ability to guide, direct or influence Mercury’s activities.
Additionally, Mercury sits in the bounds of Venus , also in Cancer and conjunct Saturn. Venus’s nature is one of indulgence, pleasure and desire. One could say that the ability to be disciplined and discerning is flavoured by the desire to posses and indulge in that which is pleasurable. When any of these are either challenged or denied, the default action is for censure and restriction as Saturn steps in to exert control.
Mercury’s rulership of the Second and Eleventh houses gives us an insight into what underpins decision-making and define resilience. Money and its ability to exert influence on others becomes a highly motivating factor in all decisions as well as the key to resilience. When resources, income or wealth and the ability to generate or maintain them are either threatened or diminished, then mental resilience is eroded, decision-making is compromised and mental acuity is dulled. The connection of Mercury to both the Second and Eleventh house gives us a connection between wealth and influence of others.
Vitality
Together the Sun and its Dispositor are the keys to personal vitality. Here we have a Gemini Sun conjunct the North Node with Uranus on the other side of this conjunction. The Sun also receives an opposition from the Moon and is sextile the prominent Mars and in trine to Jupiter.
On the face of it, the Sun seems to have much going for it with the influence of the expansive nature of Jupiter and the forcefulness of Mars coupled with the fact that the Sun is also in the terms of Mars. So, first impressions are of strength and vibrancy, forcefulness and vigour. However, if we dig deeper and look to see what supports this, we see the Sun’s dispositor, Mercury in Cancer in the Twelfth house in trine to Neptune. The inherent weakness of Mercury is this aspect to Neptune whose nature is dissolution. Together with Mercury’s lack of sight of Gemini, the Sun’s sign, it is unable to provide a backstop to the Sun. Hence, vitality lacks both depth and can be superficial.
Ability to recover from illness
To assess this ability to recover from illness we examine the 1st triplicity lord[vi] of the Sixth house. Capricorn, an Earth sign is on the cusp of this diurnal chart and Venus is the first triplicity lord in a diurnal chart. We see Venus in Cancer conjunct Saturn in the Eleventh house, but the Twelfth sign. Trump’s ability to recover from illness is a bit of an unknown factor as no one wants to speak out about his true health condition but the conjunction of Venus to the debilitated Saturn implies that this is compromised in ways that are not obvious. Venus rules the Tenth house and the Third houses, suggesting that maternal and sibling factors may influence this ability to recover. According to a variety of sources, Trump has a family history of Alzheimer’s and a brother who died from the effects of alcoholism. Trump is said to have stopped drinking alcohol as a result.
2026-2027

As Trump faces his eightieth year, let’s look at the challenges he faces. If we consider first of all, his Firdaria, Trump is in a Sun-Moon Firdaria bringing in the luminaries and their influence in this period which started in September last year and lasts until March 2027 when Saturn takes over as sub-period ruler. All planets involved in this period have connections to Trump’s health and vitality. So, we can say that this period is fairly important for Trump in maintaining his health and/or the impression of health.
On his 80th birthday, Trump entered a Ninth house profection, ruled by Mars. His natal Mars, as we discussed, sits on the Leo Ascendant, in a tight square to the MC and in trine to the Moon. Again, both planets have connections to his health, vitality and also the condition of his body.

His solar return shows Mars, the lord of the year in its detriment in Taurus in the solar return 6th house. With the lord of the year, Mars in poor condition and in a difficult house, this does not augur well for his health or vitality. Mars is a major driver in the chart and its position on the Ascendant impacts heavily on his body. Mars aspects the SR Mercury which is in the Eighth house, again a difficult placement. The SR Sun is in the Seventh house, disposited by the problematic Mercury and suggests that alliances and relationships may be highlighted and found wanting.
Trump’s natal Ascendant at 29 Leo falls in the SR Ninth house suggesting that the beliefs and world views are the issues being played out in 2026-27. And as the SR Sun rules the SR Ninth house, we will see his views which are already problematic, contribute to escalating an existing issue or situation especially to do with those Seventh house matters of allies and enemies. Additionally, Uranus sits exactly on the Descendant, escalating the probability of contentious, fractious and unexpected eruptions to relations and alliances more so than it has been in the past.
The Moon although a little bit far to consider a conjunction in a solar return, will be caught up in the turbulence of the Seventh house. The connection between the Seventh and Eight houses is via mutual reception of Mercury and the Moon. The Moon is also peregrine in Gemini and the effect of this on Trump’s cognitive and mental acuity may again become a greater concern as it impacts on inter-personal relations as well as decision-making. This may also raise other health concerns and the emergence of more visible symptoms of a weakened system.
Uranus is also almost exactly square the SR Nodal axis and indicates sudden and abrupt reversals which affect both family and public life.
The SR Ascendant at 2 Sagittarius sits in Trump’s natal Fifth house suggesting his focus is on his children or his legacy. The latter is more likely as he battles opposition to his attempts to imprint the Trump name on the Kennedy Centre and other public institutions. The SR Mars also rules the SR Fifth house and its debilitated condition and position does not help in his attempts to do so.
The lord of the year, SR Mars moves out of Taurus on the 28th June and will cross the SR Descendant on the eve of the USA’s 250th celebrations. We may see that there are some serious or egregious situations that emerge as a result of his actions around this time. The celebrations for his birthday include the Ultimate Fighting Championship[vii] taking place as I write this on 14th June on the South Lawn of the White House. I think it is interesting that the symbolism of Mars as Trump’s lord of the year manifests in this event on his birthday.
Transiting Mars conjuncts Trump’s Moon on the 29th July and will conjunct the natal Sun the following day. This might be the start of a very visible decline in his physical health which will accelerate as Mars ingresses into the sign of its Fall on the 11th August and starts its journey through the Twelfth house, touching Mercury and Venus and Saturn throughout August and September and entering Leo at the end of September. What is significant is Mars will be out of bounds[viii] signalling a conflation of existing health conditions brought to a crisis during this period.
This may signal the beginning of a visible decline as Mars nears its natal return[ix] and within a few days will conjunct the natal Ascendant at 29 Leo in mid-November. Although the initial conjunction only lasts a few days, and moves into Virgo, Mars goes retrograde in January 2027 and will move back to conjunct the Ascendant on its retrograde loop in late February. It will also return to hit natal Mars in early March, go direct on 1st April at 20 Leo, return to the natal position in early May and do its final pass over the Ascendant in mid-May. This movement of the lord of the year and the fact that it spends nearly half the year touching on the Ascendant will certainly be instrumental in indicating Trump’s physical struggles not only with his health but also his physical agility, mobility and vitality.
Summary
Trump’s 80th year is set to a defining one both in terms of his health and his political future. The USA mid-terms are scheduled for November and their impact will be telling. Also, Trump’s reaction to results which go against him may prove to be a tipping point. How he handles the political and health challenges of this period will be telling, especially as there are some already waiting in the wings to make a move should he falter. Mars will be the key to that future.

[ii] A planet in contention, also known as munakara, is a planet that crosses the boundaries of Sect: in this case a nocturnal planet – Mars in Leo is disposited by a diurnal planet – the Sun in Gemini which is in turn disposited by a nocturnal Mercury, which rises after the Sun.
[iii] When a planet is ‘blind’ or lacks sight of the sign it rules, it is disconnected to the matters of that house which underpin or affect the planet’s expression.
[iv] Mars’s nature is a malefic and a nocturnal planet and it sits in a diurnal chart which puts it out of sect and so it is the ‘out of sect’ malefic.

[vi] The triplicity lords are the third level of essential dignity and refer to the three planetary rulers assigned to each of the four classical elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Each element has a primary ruler for day and night charts, along with a third ruler that applies to both.
[vii] Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a real, legitimate sport. It is the premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the world, where real athletes train in disciplines like Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and Muay Thai to compete in unscripted, full-contact matches.
[viii] A planet is considered to be ‘out of bounds’ when its orbit escapes the Sun's declination limits (23° 27' North or South of the celestial equator). These planets operate outside mainstream norms, representing unconventional energy, heightened creativity, rule-breaking, and a fiercely independent approach to the areas they govern.
[ix] Mars will return to its natal position of 26 Leo on the 16th November 2026.
